“Dada Mkuu” is a Swahili term that translates to “Head Girl.” This refers to a young female leader who plays a significant role in school settings. The Dada Mkuu serves as a role model and mentor, effectively communicates and liaises with other students, represents their voices, and creates a connection between teachers or school leaders and the student body. She also leads and organises her fellow student leaders, fostering teamwork among them.

Dada Mkuu Initiative (DMI) is a community-driven, youth- and female led non profit organisation based in Tanzania. We are dedicated to empowering underserved adolescents and young people, particularly young women, by fostering leadership, enhancing health awareness, promoting economic resilience, and amplifying voices through digital storytelling. Our mission is to equip the next generation with the tools, knowledge, and platforms they need to become advocates for health equity, gender justice, and economic empowerment.
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): We offer comprehensive education on SRHR to help reduce the risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancies, and promote informed choices among young people.
Skills Development: Through vocational training and entrepreneurship programs, we equip youth with relevant market skills to enhance their employability and self-reliance.
Advocacy Training: We nurture leadership qualities in youth, enabling them to advocate for their rights and the needs of their communities effectively

Project planner and manager with 9 years of gender ,community development work, policy advocacy, social behaviour change communication, community engagement, and peer educator at local, national, and international levels focusing on adolescent girls, young women and youth.
David Bujiku is an experienced Program Manager and Monitoring & Evaluation expert with over three years of experience in development programs. He holds a Master’s degree in Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and is dedicated to promoting impact-driven initiatives. David is passionate about using data and evidence to improve program outcomes and empower communities through informed decision-making.
Geofrey is a dedicated IT and Communication Coordinator for the Dada Mkuu Initiative, leveraging his comprehensive skills to advance the NGO's mission. With a strong background in Digital Content and Broadcasting Engineering from the University of Dodoma, he excels at developing innovative digital solutions and crafting engaging visual content. Geofrey's expertise in programming and graphics design is complemented by his natural leadership and communication skills, allowing him to effectively manage projects, collaborate with teams, and articulate the organization's story to a wider audience. He is committed to using technology and compelling media to create a positive and lasting impact within the community
